HABEMA Task Force Strengthens Unity with the People of Yahukimo

YAHUKIMO - The 6th Marine Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif), a key unit under the HABEMA Operations Command in Papua, continues to uphold its mission of safeguarding the RI-PNG border while fostering close ties with local communities. As part of these efforts, the Task Force carried out a humanitarian-based Social Communication (Komsos) activity in Yahukimo Regency, Papua, on Saturday (01/02/2025).

This initiative reflects the TNI’s commitment not only as a protector of national sovereignty but also as a companion to the people. Beyond its core duty of defense, the 6th Marine Infantry Battalion Task Force actively engages as a community partner, working to build peace, harmony, and progress in Yahukimo.

Lieutenant Colonel Marinir Rismanto Manurung, S.M., M.Tr. Opsla., CTMP., Commander of the 6th Marine Infantry Battalion Task Force, emphasized the importance of their presence beyond security matters. “In addition to maintaining territorial integrity, we have a moral responsibility to assist the community, build strong relationships, and provide real solutions to the challenges they face. The TNI is here not just to secure the region, but to serve and protect, ” he stated.

Commander of the HABEMA Operations Command, Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, reinforced the significance of inclusive engagement with local communities in Papua’s development efforts. “The initiative of the 6th Marine Infantry Battalion Task Force to conduct Social Communication with the Yahukimo community is a tangible implementation of the TNI’s duty to foster inclusive dialogue with all stakeholders in the region. This effort directly supports the acceleration of development in Papua, ” he remarked after receiving a report on the activity.
