PAPUA - The 509th Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif 509 Kostrad), under the HABEMA Operations Command in Papua, continues to carry out its mission of securing the RI-PNG border while actively supporting the economic welfare of local communities. One of its latest initiatives, the ‘Rosita’ (Buying Farmers’ Products) program, took place at the Mamba Strong Point (TK) on Saturday (01/02/2025), bringing renewed economic opportunities to the people of Mamba.
This initiative provides a vital economic boost, particularly for Papuan mothers, whose agricultural products are purchased directly by TNI personnel. Leading the activity, Second Lieutenant Agus Firman explained that the ‘Rosita’ program aims to enhance farmers' income while fostering a stronger bond between the TNI and the local community.
“We are committed to supporting the community by purchasing their agricultural products directly. This is one of the ways we contribute to improving the welfare of residents while maintaining a sense of closeness and unity with the people around our post, ” said Lieutenant Agus Firman.
Staple crops such as sweet potatoes, vegetables, and fresh fruits are bought at fair prices, giving local farmers newfound enthusiasm and appreciation for their hard work. More than just economic support, this initiative acknowledges the dedication of Papuan mothers in cultivating and processing agricultural products.
Expressing her gratitude, Mama Yuliana, a local farmer, shared her joy over the program’s impact. “We are very happy because the TNI gentlemen buy our produce directly. This really helps us, especially in meeting our daily needs. Thank you very much, ” she said with appreciation.
The ‘Rosita’ program is a testament to the TNI’s dedication not only to security but also to economic empowerment. By actively engaging in community development, the HABEMA Task Force ensures that their presence brings tangible benefits to the people they serve.
“The initiative of Task Force Yonif 509 Kostrad to implement ‘Rosita’ with Mamba residents is a true reflection of the TNI’s commitment to inclusive social communication with all stakeholders in the region. This effort directly supports the acceleration of development in Papua, ” stated Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, Commander of the HABEMA Operations Command.
Through initiatives like ‘Rosita, ’ the TNI continues to strengthen its role as a protector, partner, and driving force for progress in Papua, proving that security and prosperity go hand in hand.
