PUNCAK - As part of its commitment to community welfare and food security, the Infantry Battalion Task Force (Satgas Yonif) Raider 323/Buaya Putih Kostrad, a unit under HABEMA Operations Command, has once again extended its support to the people of Papua’s remote regions. This time, the Task Force distributed small agricultural tools and vegetable seeds to farmer groups in Omukia District, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, on Wednesday (5/2/2025).
This initiative aims to increase local agricultural productivity while fostering food independence among the Papuan community. Commander of the Yonif 323/Buaya Putih Kostrad Mobile Border Security Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Tri Wiratno, emphasized the importance of supporting farmers in improving their livelihoods.
"We hope this assistance will be maximized by the farmers to boost their agricultural production. We also want to inspire the community to be more proactive in cultivating their land, " he stated.
The aid package included small farming tools such as hoes, sickles, and pest sprayers, along with a variety of vegetable seeds, including chilies, tomatoes, onions, and beans.
The distribution was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from the Omukia farming community. Yanes Tabuni, a representative of the local farmer group, expressed deep appreciation for the initiative.
"We are very thankful for this support. With these tools and seeds, we hope to improve agriculture in our district, leading to better harvests for our families and the community, " he said.
This agricultural assistance aligns with the broader mission of TNI in Papua, which goes beyond security operations to help fulfill basic community needs and drive regional development.
"The initiative of Task Force Yonif 323 Kostrad in distributing agricultural tools and vegetable seeds to Omukia’s farmer groups is a tangible demonstration of TNI’s dedication to accelerating Papua’s development, " stated HABEMA Commander, Major General TNI Lucky Avianto, upon receiving the activity report.
With initiatives like this, TNI continues to strengthen its role as a protector and partner of the people, ensuring that Papua moves forward with sustainable agricultural growth and economic resilience.
