Heartfelt Smiles in Keikey: HABEMA Hosts Free Health Services for the Community

YAHUKIMO - The Task Force Infantry Battalion 6 Marines, operating under the HABEMA Command of the Indonesian Armed Forces, is making a significant impact in Papua. Tasked with mobile security operations along the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border, the unit has extended its mission beyond security to deliver essential services. On Saturday, January 18, 2025, the Bravo Post, led by Second Lieutenant Alter, hosted a "Free Health Treatment" program for residents of Keikey Village, Dekai District. The initiative aimed to address healthcare challenges faced by the community, underscoring health as a vital component of public welfare.

While fulfilling its security mandate, the Bravo Post utilized the opportunity to offer free medical services to the residents. The program included general health check-ups, minor illness treatment, vitamin distribution, and hygiene and healthy living education. These efforts aimed not only to alleviate immediate health concerns but also to encourage preventive care and wellness in the community.

The turnout was remarkable. Keikey residents gathered early at the post, eager to benefit from the free healthcare services. Among them was Mama Ria Turnib, who received treatment for the flu and left with prescribed medicine and vitamins. Grateful for the assistance, Mama Ria shared her sentiments, “Thank you, Commander Marines. I feel better now. God bless.”

Major General Lucky Avianto, Commander of HABEMA, commended the Marines for their proactive initiative. “This program reflects TNI’s unwavering dedication to supporting basic community needs, particularly in health, as a cornerstone of accelerating development in Papua, ” he stated. His recognition highlighted the broader impact of such activities, fostering trust and collaboration between TNI and the local communities they serve.

The program stands as a testament to the Indonesian Armed Forces' commitment to serving beyond the call of duty. By addressing fundamental needs like healthcare, the Marines Task Forces continue to build a legacy of trust, hope, and resilience in Papua.
