INTAN JAYA - One of the military units under the command of the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, is currently conducting mobile security at the border of Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, especially in the Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province. On Thursday, 19 September 2024, the 509 Task Forces, especially the Holomama Post led by First Lieutenant Wanianto, visited the Yoparu Village, Sugapa District, and conducted Social Communication (Komsos) while conducting protection tasks in the area. This Komsos aims to foster trust and cooperation between the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and the local community to support the Indonesian Government’s program of accelerating the development of the Papua region.
Emphasizing the pivotal role of the community, the Commander of the 509 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, stressed the importance of the Task Forces’ focus on the community's fundamental needs in the assigned area. Therefore, on Thursday, the Soldiers took advantage of their task by helping the Yoparu residents through social communication and distributing help of basic necessities packages to the local people.
By prioritizing security during activities, harmonious interactions between TNI Soldiers and residents have resulted in a close relationship between the two parties. To increase familiarity, the Soldiers distributed packages of basic necessities needed by the residents of Yoparu Village. The community members were very enthusiastic about welcoming the presence and help from the 509 Task Forces. One of them, Mr Agustinus Wanimbo, expressed his impression: "Praise God, thank you, Commander 509. God bless.”
Upon receiving the activity report, the HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, commended the 509 Task Forces’ initiative to conduct social communication and distribute packages of basic necessities to residents of Yoparu village. His words: 'The 509 Task Forces' initiative is a testament to TNI's commitment to conduct inclusive Social Communication with all stakeholders to support the acceleration of development in the Papua region.' This recognition from the highest authority in HABEMA is not just a commendation but a testament to the significant impact of such initiatives on the region's development. It instills profound hope and optimism about their potential to shape the region's future positively. It makes the Task Forces and the community feel recognized, valued, and respected for their efforts. It gives everyone a sense of hope and optimism about the region's future development.
